I (Myles) had my first experience training in Malawi when J-Life and Kerusso Trust invited me to facilitate the session on Integrity at their Learn-2-Serve workshop this week in Michiru ZEC, Blantyre. It never ceases to amaze me that while around the world our cultures, languages and climates can vary so dramatically, at the same time the fallen nature of the human heart, the challenges of biblical living, and the applicability of the Good News of Christ’s Grace is so universal.
Wherever we are – Blantyre or Barrhead – the greatest challenge for the disciple remains to live a life of biblical integrity. A life where actions and words are consistent with each other, and consistent with the example of our Lord Jesus.
No wonder meeting this challenge is the adventure of a lifetime. No wonder we can only hope to achieve it through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. No wonder that – stumbling and imperfect as it might be this side of Heaven – such a life is the greatest of witnesses to those around us.
May we be ever more like Paul who was able to say:
“Now this is our boast: Our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world, and especially in our relations with you, with integrity and godly sincerity. We have done so, relying not on worldly wisdom but on God’s grace.” (2 Cor 1:12)
